Did you know that most Americans are deficient in fat? That is right, we are majorly undernourished in good healthy fats! We may stuff our faces with “fat” all day, but that is not what the body needs. An easy and quick way to increase the amount of good fats your body is getting is to eat fresh, raw, avocados. You can simply just cut one in half and scoop out the middle with a spoon and enjoy. This quick and healthy snack provides the body with essential fats, proteins, and helps to stabilize blood sugars. Eating an avocado plain first thing in the morning can have a positive effect on how you feel the rest of the day. It is also a great energy boosting snack in the afternoon. These tasty treats are also a good source of Vitamin K, Potassium, Folate, Vitamins E and C, Magnesium, and of course Monounsaturated Fat. So, start giving your body what it is craving… Good Healthy Fat!
Sometimes I might get a cold and need some extra care. So what are the things that really help me get better? You may be thinking antibiotics from the doctor, and while sometimes I do need those, most of the time I can my system back on track with some natural remedies that really get me going again!
One of the things that I need a lot of, but you always give me the wrong kind, is salt. My body craves salt but not the table salt kind that makes me feel puffy and thirsty. You may not have ever realized this, but not all salt is created equal. There is salt that is bad for the body, which would be our everyday table salt, and then there is salt that the body actually is deficient in and needs more of. Sodium chloride, which the element that is left after salt is chemically cleaned, is the main ingredient of table salt. Because the salt has been processed this is not its natural form, and the body recognizes it as a foreign thing. When regular salt is cleaned it is stripped of over 60 important trace minerals that we really need, then of course the manufactures add more chemicals to make it even worse for us.
So what kind of salt should we be eating? The two best kinds of salt to consume regularly are Himalayan Sea Salt and Celtic Salt. Cleansing the body on the inside is essential to our overall health, just as showering on the outside is. The issue is that most Americans don’t do this regularly, or worse yet, they never do. There is absolutely one thing I can’t live with out and that is protein. The problem is you think I need way more than I really do. Did you know that I actually only need 2.5% protein a day?Unless you are a new-born infant, who needs about 5%, but that was a long time ago.. wasn’t it? 🙂
There is a huge myth out there that we need lots of animal protein to say health and strong. The truth is I can get way more absorbable protein from green leafy vegetables than I can from any animal protein.
It reminds me of that Popeye song, ” I am strong to the finish cause I eat me spinach!” Boy was he ever right!
I am not saying you have to be a vegetarian, but hey, please cut back on the milk, steak, bacon, cheese, and other animal proteins you think I need so much, and replace those with spinach, kale, chard, broccoli, and avocado.
I promise you won’t be disappointed in how strong and buff I can get! Test me… I dare you! 🙂

HEALTH TIP OF THE DAY: GET MORE PROTEIN FROM VEGGIES NOT ANIMALS
It is a widely accept belief in our society that we need animal protein to be healthy. Nothing could be farther from the truth. The truth is that the average American eats between 15-35% protein from calories a day, which is dangerously high. Research, including the China Study, along with many others, has shown over and over again that eating this much protein in your diet from animals increases your risk for Osteoporosis, Cancers, Heart Disease, and many other serious health issues that are running rapid in our society. The FDA has admitted that all animal proteins when they are cooked create carcinogens( this means it causes cancer) in the body. Yet, we keep on ordering our hamburgers with extra cheese.
The best, healthiest, and cheapest way to get adequate amounts of protein in your diet daily is to increase the amount of leafy greens you consume. Spinach for example is 49% protein, Beef is only about 25%! Wow, who knew right? The vegetables with the highest amounts of protein are Spinach, Broccoli, Kale, Cauliflower, and Asparagus, to name a few. Of course these are better in the raw form, but if you choose to cook your veggies, try flash steaming them for just a few minutes so that you do not cook all the nutrition out.
Even though water will always be my favorite beverage that you put in me, I know sometimes you need to mix it up and drink something that is a little more tasty and fun, especially with Summer coming soon!
There are lots of healthy alternatives to choose from that do NOT include sodas, coffees, artificially flavored waters, sugary fake juices, or alcoholic beverages. In fact, I am begging you not to consume those types of drinks regularly because they are all very bad for our health.
Instead try to add some fun natural flavors to your water like slices of organic fruit like lemons, oranges, or even strawberries. Or just try a new kind of water all together, like Coconut Water!
I can guarantee that keeping me hydrated in a healthy manner will be worth your while!

When we were babies we got super strong off our Mommy’s milk, but now that we are older it is hard to know what kind of milk is really good for us. Isn’t it?
You have been told your whole life that cow’s milk, “Does a Body Good!” but I have to tell you the truth….. I don’t really like it at all!!
In fact, it can make me really sick and slow if I have too much of it. But hey the good news is you’re trying, but the bad news is I am not a baby cow so this milk stuff just needs to go!

Not only is coconut milk super delicious, but it is highly nutritious too! This tasty beverage is a wonderful alternative for regular milk and provides the body with many essential nutrients that are much better for you that what is in cow’s milk. It is better for the environment to drink, costs about the same as regular milk, is great for cooking and baking, and kids love it too!
