Hey there!

Sometimes I might get a cold and need some extra care. So what are the things that really help me get better? You may be thinking antibiotics from the doctor, and while sometimes I do need those, most of the time I can my system back on track with some natural remedies that really get me going again!

One of the things that I need a lot of, but you always give me the wrong kind, is salt. My body craves salt but not the table salt kind that makes me feel puffy and thirsty. This kind of salt is loaded with minerals, has antibacterial properties and can really help me heal. Read up on how these two forms of salt can make you and I feel extra fantastic!

You may not have ever realized this, but not all salt is created equal. There is salt that is bad for the body, which would be our everyday table salt, and then there is salt that the body actually is deficient in and needs more of. Sodium chloride, which the element that is left after salt is chemically cleaned, is the main ingredient of table salt. Because the salt has been processed this is not its natural form, and the body recognizes it as a foreign thing. When regular salt is cleaned it is stripped of over 60 important trace minerals that we really need, then of course the manufactures add more chemicals to make it even worse for us.

So what kind of salt should we be eating? The two best kinds of salt to consume regularly are Himalayan Sea Salt and Celtic Salt. These forms of natural salts can do wonders for the body, and are essential to consume daily. Kumquats….You said what?

Hello Darling,

During the winter months I can get down right cold, don’t you think? And when I say cold I mean I am much more susceptible to catching one this time of year.

So what are some things you can do to help me through this rough patch? Well, for one you can increase the amount of citrus fruits you eat, as they are loaded with Vitamin C and antioxidants. Eating these nutrients can really help me out! They boost my energy, immune system, and they help to fight off those nasty bugs that can get me this time of year.

So stock up on that colorful fruit next time your out!

HEALTH TIP OF THE DAY: TRY A KUMQUAT

220px-KumquatTry a what you say? A Kumquat ( which translates into “gold orange”)  is a unique and powerful citrus fruit that many people are not aware of. These tasty little fruits are not only cute and pint size but they are easy to eat as you can just pop them in your mouth with the peel! Yes that’s right, you can even eat the peel! The peel contains a variety of nutrients such as essential oils, antioxidants, and even fiber. The inside of a Kumquat is packed with Vitamin C.  Just one regular sized Kumquat can give you about 73% of your recommended daily value. To get the most flavor and nutritional value out of them, just rub them between your fingers or palm before popping it in your mouth to increase the essential oils going into the skin. I Like It RAW

Did you know that every time you cook your food, you and I don’t get nearly the nutrition that we need? In fact, you may be feeling like you eat really healthy but if all your foods are cooked, we are missing out on some really important nutrients. What, you may be wondering??? Well, the whole point of eating good nutritious foods is to get adequate amounts of vitamins, minerals, proteins and enzymes. And when you cook these foods at high temperatures all of those important components die.

Don’t get me wrong, sometimes I want a hot meal, and I need that too, but I just wish you would let me eat a bit more fresh, raw veggies and fruits, so I could really keep you moving at your best!

RAW-foodHEALTH TIP OF THE DAY: EAT MORE RAW VEGGIES AND FRUITS!

We know that eating a lot of fruits and veggies is good for us, but what most people may not know is that when they cook their foods, even if they are healthy foods, the nutrition in that food disappears and often can become even unhealthy. When foods are cooked above 117 degrees 30-50% of vitamins and minerals are destroyed, and 100% of enzymes are damaged, ( these are essential to breakdown and absorb nutrition into the body). This means if you are only eating cooked veggies, your body is not able to even absorb or take in the minimal amount of nutrition that may be left. High cooking temperatures denature proteins, which destroys the amino acids, leaving them with little to no nutritional value left and often when dealing with cooked meats, creates carcinogens in the body. (carcinogen means cancer causing) Yes sorry, meat eaters but, all cooked meats and dairy products are carcinogenic in the body. Worse yet pesticides become even more toxic when heated, along with more free radical production, cooked food pathogens, and loss of oxygen from the original food. The results of eating all cooked foods, all the time, are lowered immune systems, premature aging, various cancers, clogged arteries and even arthritis. According to research done by cancerologist Dr. Bruce Ames, professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at University of California, Berkeley, there are various groups of chemicals from cooked food that causes tumors in the body. Nitrosamines are created from fish, poultry or meat cooked in gas ovens and barbecues, as nitrogen oxides within gas flames interact with fat residues. Mucoid plaque, a thick tar-like substance builds up in the intestines on a diet of cooked foods. Mucoid plaque is caused by uneliminated, partically digested, putrefying cooked fatty and starch foods.
So to help your body fight illness, disease, and even aging, start to eat more fresh organic raw fruits and veggies.

There are so many health benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar, too many to name here, but it is one of the most powerful super foods and natural healing remedies out there. You can drink it alone, in tea, use it for cooking/juicing, and it makes a great salad dressing.

Crazy For Coconuts

When we were babies we got super strong off our Mommy’s milk, but now that we are older it is hard to know what kind of milk is really good for us. Isn’t it?

You have been told your whole life that cow’s milk, “Does a Body Good!” but I have to tell you the truth….. I don’t really like it at all!!

In fact, it can make me really sick and slow if I have too much of it. But hey the good news is you’re trying, but the bad news is I am not a baby cow so this milk stuff just needs to go!

My intuition says that there are lots of other choices for “milk” type options out there we just have to look a little harder.

HEALTH TIP OF THE DAY: SKIP THE DAIRY BUT GRAB THE COCONUT MILK     coconutmilk

Not only is coconut milk super delicious, but it is highly nutritious too! This tasty beverage is a wonderful alternative for regular milk and provides the body with many essential nutrients that are much better for you that what is in cow’s milk. It is better for the environment to drink, costs about the same as regular milk, is great for cooking and baking, and kids love it too!
Coconut in most forms is a powerful healing superfood that can help the body with a multitude of health issues. One of the benefits of coconut milk is that it contains medium-chain fatty acids (MCFA). The MCFAs in coconut oil are easily digested, absorbed, and put to use nourishing the body. Laughter Is The Best Medicine

Do you remember when we were little kids and it was so much fun to laugh?!

Do you remember the last time you laughed so hard we started to cry?!

Well, it has been a while hasn’t it?

Laughing is something I really enjoy so can we do more of that please?It reduces my stress, makes me feel younger, heals me, and most of all it is super, duper fun!!

We have all heard the phrase laughter is the best medicine but is that really true? Research shows that laughter is not only good for our souls and our mental wellbeing, but it is good for our internal body as well. In fact, laughter stretches your muscles, burns calories, and allows the body to get more oxygen. Here are some facts of how laughter really does a body good according to WEB MD:

**Increased Blood flow: __ Researchers at the University of Maryland studied the effects on blood vessels when people were shown either comedies or dramas. After the screening, the blood vessels of the group who watched the comedy behaved normally — expanding and contracting easily. But the blood vessels in people who watched the drama tended to tense up, restricting blood flow.

**Immune response: __Increased stress is associated with decreased immune system response. Studies have shown that the ability to use humor may raise the level of infection-fighting antibodies in the body and boost the levels of immune cells, as well.

**Stabilizing Blood sugar levels: __One study of 19 people with diabetes looked at the effects of laughter on blood sugar levels. After eating, the group attended a tedious lecture. On the next day, the group ate the same meal and then watched a comedy. After the comedy, the group had lower blood sugar levels than they did after the lecture.

**Better Sleep and Relaxation: __The focus on the benefits of laughter really began with Norman Cousin’s memoir, Anatomy of an Illness. Cousins, who was diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis, a painful spine condition, found that a diet of comedies, like Marx Brothers films and episodes of Candid Camera, helped him feel better. He said that ten minutes of laughter allowed him two hours of pain-free sleep.
